Background[]
Japan[]
After committing mass murder against 200 innocent Japanese citizens, the Japanese government had declared war on Parpaldia Empire, the first time in Japan after 70 years.
First off, the Ministry of Defense had no means to rapidly transport the Japan Ground Self Defense Force. Even with three fully operational Oosumi-class LSTs, it would take numerous days to deploy a full regiment of troops, so, based on the situation, they may need a small group of elites to delay the enemy forces.
They want to gain control of the airspace by sending waves of F-2s with anti-ship missiles to sink the twenty dragon carriers and gunboats at the location thirty kilometers west of Nishinomiyako. Then, together with F-15J Kais, shoot down all the wyvern lords in the air escorting their fleet. This will neutralize their aerial combat ability.
The enemy ground forces are currently concentrated in Nishinomiyako, but JSDF couldn’t bomb them since it could affect civilians. In that case, since they’re currently preparing to sortie, as mentioned before, we let them advance to some sort of plain or flatland. While they’re doing that, the JGSDF use shuttles from the LSTs to land on the eastern shore of Fenn’s capital, Amanoki. Based on the situation, there may be a need to attack the enemy forces to distract them. Either way, they could then evacuate as many Japanese citizens as possible on those shuttles.
Regarding the rest of the enemy’s naval forces, the Japan Maritime Self Defense Force could handle them. Because there are so many, anti-ship missiles would be inefficient, but they could take them out easily enough with just standard guns.
That’s the overview of the plan to expunge the Parpaldian army from the Fenn Kingdom.
On the eastern coast of Amanoki, the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force’s Fenn civilian rescue brigade’s 1st battalion was unloading supplies. This new organization was formed to combat the threat of an enemy that mercilessly slaughtered civilians; they were trained and equipped to be ready for combat at a moment’s notice. The battalion included 330 JGSDF soldiers, 55 trucks, 10 MLRS, 2 Mitsubishi Type 89 IFV, 5 Type 99 155 mm self-propelled howitzers and 10 Type 90 tanks. The LCAC hovercrafts went back and forth between the shore and the Oosumi-class LSTs. The Japanese soldiers kept unloading more and more.
Parpaldia Empire[]
After Parpaldia Empire occupied Nishinomiyako, the majority of Parpaldia’s great fleet was stationed offshore. They had already established a base in Nishinomiyako, and twenty gunboats were dispatched to serve as support.
General Sius ordered the empire’s ground forces to be ready to leave Nishinomiyako next day and marched 100 km southeast to the capital, Amanoki. Because there were land dragons assigned to each squad, they would be taking a detour around the mountains through the Coate Plain. Lieutenant General Bertran didn’t doubt that they would emerge victorious, but he still felt an inexplicable anxiety. It wasn’t something he had ever felt before.
They had executed a bunch of citizens from Japan, a barbarian country outside the civilized areas. There was a chance that Japan would fly into a rage and come attack them. If it were any other country that did so, they would simply wipe them out and everything would be fine. However when Bertran saw what those Japanese were wearing, he suddenly became worried. He held in his hand a self-winding wristwatch which the vast majority of those Japanese wristwatches were better and more advanced mechanical than Mu. He couldn’t stop the operation now. They had no idea what kind of weapons Japan would employ; they could be powerful, they could be weak. He made his preparations while mulling over his uneasiness.
Battle[]
Nishinomiyako Offshore Battle[]
The ten JASDF F-2 combat aircrafts were flying about 20 meters above sea level ahead the Parpaldia Empire’s fleet of dragon carriers offshore about 30 km west of Nishinomiyako. They fired a total of forty air-launched Type 93 ASM-2 Air-to-Ship missiles towards the dragon carriers.
Vice Admiral Armos looked ahead cautiously and saw two large painted blue arrows were flying at the newest, most advanced dragon carrier flagship with anti-magic steel plating, Mille at an astounding speed. The two Type 93 ASM-2 Anti-ship Missiles fired from the JASDF F-2 aircraft scored direct hits on the dragon carrier fleet’s flagship, Mille. It was engulfed in light.
The giant flagship became wrapped in an even larger explosion, accompanied by the roaring sound of destruction. Right before Armos’ eyes, the anti-ship missiles, which individually had enough firepower to destroy a cruiser, erased the flagship Mille from existence, along with its crew and wyvern lords. The leftover noise from the blast echoed across the water. Tragic reports kept coming in as the mysterious objects kept, without missing even once, blowing up dragon carriers.
Vice Admiral Armos yelled that the empire’s peerless dragon carrier fleet was in such an impossible. He worked his brain at full capacity, trying desperately to identify anything in his life experience that could explain what was going on. He believed the magic bomb of light came from the Ancient Sorcerous Empire. The one of missiles came facing for his ship where he stood aboard. The vice admiral’s flash of insight never went anywhere.
They sank all twenty ships in the Parpaldia Empire’s dragon carrier fleet and its 100-gun Magic Ships-of-the-Line.
Imperial army General Sius simply looked out to the west where the sound of numerous explosions came from that direction. After the sounds stopped, the army could not contact any of the twenty ships in the dragon carrier fleet or its escort. None of their magical communicators were responsive and, unbelievably enough, even their magical signatures had completely disappeared. For twenty ships from their unrivaled fleet to be lost in such an insanely short period of time, without even being able to contact command, Sius couldn’t even imagine what could have happened. The rest of the fleet was already on alert, and four ship-of-the-lines were sent to their last known location to investigate.
Dragon knight squadron commander Chirino saw the disaster beneath him and was speechless. The dragon carriers all spontaneously exploded. He decided to have his squad of twelve dragon knights land back at Nishinomiyako.
When his subordinate yelled him that unidentified objects came at the front, he squinted his eyes to saw something that looked like an arrow was coming towards them. Eight wyvern lords in his elite squadron were shred into pieces, falling out of the sky.
The rest of the squadron chased after the F-15J Kai aircrafts, trying to identify what they were. They could not catch up at all. The F-15J Kais suddenly ascended at a speed they couldn’t believe, vanishing into the sky. Then the F-15J Kais turned and pointed back at them, rapidly returning to their position. They fired AAM-05 air-to-air missiles and AAM-04 air-to-air missiles toward the wyvern lords.
All wyvern lords were hit by air-to-air missiles, blowing them out of the sky.
Battlefield on Coate Plain[]
The Parpaldian ground legion force under Lieutenant General Bertran marched towards to the capital Amanoki through the Coate Plain. There were 3,000 soldiers in all. The invasion force included 32 land dragons as well as 12 wyvern lords for reconnaissance.
The Parpaldian ground legion were currently in the middle of the detour to avoid the mountains, taking a one-hour break in a magical dead zone where they were out of contact with the fleet’s flagship. They came across a village along the way, which they attacked and looted. They were on schedule to reach the plains with one more break along the way.
Following their next march, the Parpaldian ground legion arrived at the Coate Plain. The JGSDF civilian rescue brigade 1st battalion leader, Lieutenant Colonel Amano, was analyzing a report he received from one of his men. The imperial army’s ground forces had arrived at the Coate Plain, and there were no residences in the vicinity, so it was the optimal time to attack them. In addition, while they did know the enemy’s current position, there were villages in the area, so they couldn’t bomb them. Aside from their assortment of vehicles and mobile weaponry, they also had access to three AH-64D Apache helicopters they could borrow from the Maritime SDF’s helicopter carrier.
Out the south of the Coate Plain, twelve wyvern lords who flew along the route to Amanoki to scout ahead, shot down and Parpaldia’s fleet of twenty backup ships-of-the-lines sunk ship by ship by main cannon from JMSDF Akizuki-class destroyer Suzuki. The Parpaldian ground legion was quickly losing morale.
On the Coate Plain, JGSDF Type 90 tanks coming towards the Parpaldian ground legion and cast explosive, firing it at the land dragons from their horns. All land dragons were eliminated. The imperial soldiers set up the portable magic cannons that were hauled along for the march by the cavalry and fired their portable magic cannons at the nearest Type 90 tank. Numerous magic cannon shells rained down on it. The barrage shaved away the earth. Two of the shells hit the Type 90 tank dead-on, but it emerged unscathed and continued running towards them.
The Type 90 tanks that had just annihilated the land dragons started moving backwards while still facing the imperial legion. Some of the imperial soldiers thought they were afraid of the empire’s magic cannons and began cheering.
Three AH-64D attack helicopters appeared floating high in the sky and hovering around the imperial legion. They roared oppressively while continuing to fire bursts of light. The lights exploded, steadily whittling away the ground legion. The imperial soldiers in the rear, consumed by fear, suppressed their way into the middle of the legion formation. They had noticed that they were now cornered in one place by the Type-99 155 mm Self-Propelled Howitzers and MLRS attacks.
Without their supports, the Parpaldia imperial army ground legion began waving their unit flag to the left and signaling a surrender. However the JSDF did not know the surrender signal in this world and suspected that it might be "preparing for large-scale attack magic". Furthermore, the commander of the strike force, Amano was driven by the death of his niece and brother-in-law.
The JGSDF civilian rescue brigade’s 1st battalion employed all firepower at their disposal, five Type 99 155mm self-propelled howitzers and ten MLRS, to fire on the clustered Papaldia Empire imperial army’s ground legion.
The rockets left traces of their trajectories in the sky. Each of the ten MLRS launched twelve rockets, a total of 120 rockets that would annihilate the enemy forces. Each rocket split into 644 submunitions, creating 77,280 projectiles. Along with five shots from the Type 99 155mm self-propelled howitzers, the Parpaldian ground legion watched death rain down on them. The MLRS submunitions were particularly effective against unarmored targets, and they sprinkled down on the soldiers, turning them collapse.
Consequently, the Parpaldia imperial army was literally annihilated by JSDF artillery barrage with no single soldier survived. The Papaldia Empire imperial army ground legion was defeated in the Fenn Kingdom on the Coate Plain by the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force civilian rescue brigade. All of their soldiers perished.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan had told in advance that "When you surrender, raise the white flag" in advance, but the upper part of Parpaldia Empire who believed that their army could not be defeated, did not tell it to the front line It is. On the contrary, they did not intentionally convey the signal of surrender in this world to the Japanese side. The upper part of the Parpaldia Empire (effectively Remille) did not allow the Japanese army to surrender from the beginning, but intended to kill all the soldiers. Ironically, it was the worst way to go.

On board the super-Phishanus class ship-of-the-line Pall, General Sius heard the reports that their dragon carriers had all been destroyed, and their wyvern lords were shot down by iron dragons with greater speed. The last and most concerning problem was that the ground legion should have long left the magical dead zone, but neither they nor the gunboats sent to support them had gotten in contact with the main army yet.
Sixteen JMSDF escort ships detected coming from the southwest of Nishinomiyako. General Sius ordered all 183 ships-of-the-line in their grand fleet of 284 ships to get ready for battle. They were getting into combat positions to engage the sixteen escort ships sent by the Japanese navy.
The Japanese fleet was about ten kilometers away from them and then smoke coming from the mouth of the cannon on the closest Japanese ship. The shell fired by the guided missile destroyer Kongou’s 127mm single-mounted rapid-fire gun easily pierced the 100-gun ship-of-the-line’s antimagic steel armor and sparked an explosion in the ship’s magazine. The pressure from the explosion pushed outwards, pulverizing anything made of wood and escaping upwards through the deck. A magnificent pillar of flame blazed upwards, splitting the ship in half and sinking it.
Still firing its cannon, the JMSDF escort ship was moving towards the imperial fleet’s center. It was about six kilometers away. The other ships behind it joined in, drastically increasing the number of shots fired. Every shot was a direct hit, and a ship sank every time cannon sounded.
The superpower Papaldia Empire, the Third Civilization’s strongest country, lost every single one of its ships, the entire fleet of 284 ships sunk beneath the waves in an incredibly short amount of time. As a result, the Parpaldia Empire Navy lost one out of third of its total strength.
A short time later, having lost its main force, the remainder of the imperial army surrendered to the Fenn army when they came to take back Nishinomiyako.
Aftermath[]
Since then, Nishinomiyako will hold an annual festival called “Fire of Pillar Festival” where bundles of wood are shaped into boats then set on fire, creating great pillars of flames.
The reaction of the upper part of Parpaldia Empire were utter humiliation and rage. Rather than start taking the Japanese seriously, the Emperor of Parpaldia Empire, Ludius and head of the First Foreign Affair Remille foolishly and ignorantly declared a war on extermination that “kills all Japanese people”, effectively shutting down diplomatic route with Japan. Unknown to Ludius and Remille, they had signed the death sentence of their own kingdom.
The only person in the Parpaldian government of that time who realized that the Parpaldian had no chance of winning was Kaios. Consequently, he attempted to establish communication with the Japanese to mitigate the damages later on.
Trivia[]
- The manga version changes several details of the battle.
- The battle between the JMSDF and most of Parpaldia's Invasion Fleet is skipped.
- Parpaldia's Army relied on wyverns from the Navy's wyvern carriers; in the original, the wyverns were transported with the land force in carts towed by Land Dragons.
- Multiple JMSDF destroyers sink the support fleet sent to help the army; originally, only one destroyer was sent and sunk all twenty ships by itself.
