Consumerism is a social and economic order that encourages an acquisition of goods and services in ever-increasing amounts. With the introduction of Japanese products, the economic levels of New World nations have begun to rise and expand as the desire for such products increases among the citizens.
Overview[]
In economics, consumerism may refer to economic policies which emphasize consumption. In an abstract sense, it is the consideration that the free choice of consumers should strongly orient the choice by manufacturers of what is produced and how, and therefore orient the economic organization of a society. With the appearance of Japan, and their advanced technologies, the people of the New World began to see just how much their quality of life would improve with such domestic devices such as home appliances, as well as other consumable goods such as wristwatches, automobiles and propane stoves. Furthermore, services such as infrastructure improvements, utilities and education has shown to be a boon to nations of the Third Civilization Area and Outside the Civilized Areas.
Merchants from various nations that thought they could sell their products in Japan, do a complete reversal and begin to import Japanese products to their own countries. Increased mass consumption led to increased mass production in Japan. Ironically in Japan, this has led to a trend of deaths due to overwork as companies strove to meet increasing demand.
Consumerism in the New World[]
Third Civilization Area and Outside the Civilized Areas[]
Before the arrival of Japan, the Parpaldia Empire held the monopoly on the sale of outdated technology and would only trade limited shares to underdeveloped nations in exchange for slaves and land gifting. However, they would lose this monopoly once Japan began offering much higher-quality products with much better terms. Nations such as the Qua-Toyne Principality and the Quila Kingdom would thrive as their people embraced Japanese goods and services.
Second Civilization Area[]
Merchants had thought that the nation of Mu had the best consumer goods, such as their mechanical wristwatches. However, they would soon see that Japan's products were superior and this would lead to a new market in importing goods from Japan. Soon afterwards, Mu would see the benefits of learning Japanese technology and using it for their own benefit.
First Civilization Area[]
Even the greatest superpower, the Holy Milishial Empire would eventually have to admit that Japan's technology and products were superior.
