Great Naval Battle of Rodenius is the Japan Maritime Self Defense Force's first battle with another country in the New World. It is the first overseas dispatch of troops since the last war (World War II). The purpose was to prevent the capture of Maihark, a port city shipping desperately needed food to Japan, by 'insurgent forces'.

The Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force sent 8 destroyers as reinforcements to Maihark, and requested Qua-Toyne send an observer to be onboard Japan's ships during the battle. Officer Breweye volunteered to be sent, despite reservations by his superior Admiral Pancare over the very small number of ships Japan had sent. A helicopter would arrive and take him to to the Izumo later that same day.
The Japanese had already located the Lourian Navy 500km to the West, and intended to set sail tomorrow to intercept them.
[]
The Louria Kingdom's Eastern Conquest Navy is a large fleet of 4,400 ships with more than fifty thousand soldiers, while the Qua-Toyne's 2nd Fleet greets only 50 ships. However, the participation of escort teams overturned this difference in strength.
Each Lourian and Qua-Toyne ship folded its sails and gathered in the port. Sailors double-checked the ladders they would be using to board enemy ships. Unlit fire arrows were soaked in oil and stored away. Wooden shields to protect against the enemy’s arrows were affixed at regular intervals. Ballistae were installed on each ship.
Early departure the convoy group to Lourian Navy, the Lourian Navy ignores a warning from JMSDF ship-borne helicopter. Kongo-class destroyer Myoukou carries out the attack in the flaming arrows in by Lourian warships.
Even though Myouko escort ship has no effect whatsoever, they still moved out of range of the fire arrows. It speedily traveled about 3 kilometers away from the fleet then turned around.
The Myoukou escort ship’s 127 mm rapid fire gun turned to point at the opposing fleet and fired the shell out. Louria Navy’s single ship exploded that Vice-Admiral Sharkun was shocked by having never experienced this level of firepower before.
Sky Battle[]
Thinking that the attack was a one time occurrence, Vice-Admiral Sharkun requested wyvern support from the Lourian capital Jin-Hark. 350 were available, and the commander would elect to send 250 to support the fleet, leaving the 100 necessary to defend the capital. The Eastern Subjugation Navy would wait for the wyverns to arrive and then launch a joint attack.
The Myokou detected the approaching wyverns at long distance and realized it was an attack. To defend themselves, the ship began launching anti-air missiles. The Lourians would watch them take off and fly South, not understanding what was going on. At the same time, the wyvern force began to take heavy losses without even being able to see either their ships or the enemy.
As the depleted attack force came into view, the Myokou switched to using cannon fire to shoot down the wyverns, shocking the Lourians that didn't believe it could fire more than once. Only three wyverns managed to get remotely close to their target, at which point the Myokou'sPhalanx CIWS activated and shot them down before they could launch their fireballs. Vice-Admiral Sharkun and his sailors were shocked that a single ship shot down 250 wyverns.

With the wyvern threat neutralized, the JMSDF turned its full attention to the Eastern Subjugation Navy. The remaining seven destroyers would join the Myokou in battle. Still, Admiral Shurkan maintained the order to attack. Though many Lourian ships tried to reach the Japanese ships to initiate combat, a constant barrage of cannon fire sunk ship after ship. After some time, over 1,000 Lourian ships had been sunk.
As the battle continued and the Japanese ships began to run low on shells, five AH-1S Cobra were launched from the Izumo to provide additional fire. Soon the number of sunken ships was close to 1500. The Lourian sailors were all terrified, and Admiral Shurkan began to realize the hopelessness of the situation. Despite realizing he'd likely be executed, he decided to put the lives of his sailors over his own and ordered a retreat. His ship would be struck and sunk soon after he gave the order.
Upon realizing their enemy was retreating, the JMSDF ordered all ships and helicopters to cease fire, ending the battle.
Aftermath[]
Japan would commence search and rescue operations for the wounded 'insurgents' left in the water. Vice-Admiral Sharkun would be among those brought on board, and would be brought to meet the Japanese commander once he revealed himself. All prisoners would be transferred to camps in Japan in the following days.
Though the Lourians resolved to continue their invasion over land, they stressed greatly over the losses suffered. The loss of the wyverns was particularly damaging to the Lourian war effort, as the losses represented half of all the wyverns the country had and more than half of what they could send to war. Since the vanguard force had taken 150 wyverns, they no longer had any they could provide to the main force, as they could not spare anymore wyverns for fear of weakening the capital's defenses. The losses at sea effectively damned their attempts to control the skies above the continent. In the end, they forced the vanguard army to send half of its wyverns back, weakening their position in western Qua-Toyne.
Officer Breweye, the observer from Qua-Toyne riding in the Izumo, was left in shock by how the battle unfolded. He was later invited to a government meeting to give the report and serve as reference. Prime Minister Kanata and all other attendees were also shocked and disbelieving at the reports. Several Qua-Toyne officials began to express fear of Japan, but in the end they decided to still be relieved Louria's sea incursion had been beaten back.
This battle would also bring Japan to the attention of the Parpaldia Empire for the first time. Valhal, an observer for the Empire, witnessed the entire battle and was deeply disturbed by what he saw. He would escape the battle and hurry to report to his superiors on the Philades Continent.
At some point in the following days, Japan launched an airstrike to destroy the ships that had pulled out of the battle, finally ending any threat of invasion from the sea.
