Hypersonic missiles are any missile that can fly faster than Mach 5. The higher the speed of the missile, the smaller the chance that they can be intercepted by the opponent's anti-missile defense systems because it requires a shorter reaction time. These missiles are capable of delivering conventional or nuclear payloads at ultra-high velocities over long ranges. Unlike ballistic missiles their flight path can be programed for make detection and interception more difficult.

As part of the arms program of the JSDF in the New World, the Japanese government is currently researching to create hyper-sonic missiles to deal with current and future threats in the New World.

- In real-life, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries is currently developing Hypersonic missiles that can travel at Mach 5. Despite this, it is still much slower than the US AGM-183A ARRW Hypersonic Missiles that can fly at Mach 20.
