Language is a structured system of communication, and, in a broader sense, is the method of communication that involves the use of – particularly human – languages.

Overview[]

Human language has the properties of productivity and displacement, and relies entirely on social convention and learning. Its complex structure affords a much wider range of expressions than any known system of animal communication. Language is thought to have originated when early hominins started gradually changing their primate communication systems, acquiring the ability to form a theory of others mind and a shared intentionality. This development is sometimes thought to have coincided with an increase in brain volume, and many linguists see the structures of language as having evolved to serve specific communicative and social functions.

Language is processed in many different locations in the human brain, but especially in Broca's and Wernicke's areas. Humans acquire language through social interaction in early childhood, and children generally speak fluently by approximately three years old.

The use of language is deeply entrenched in human culture. Therefore, in addition to its strictly communicative uses, language also has many social and cultural uses, such as signifying group identity, social stratification, as well as social grooming and entertainment.

Language in the New World[]

New World's Common Language[]

The most common and widely used language in the New World and the first language that Japan encounter after the transference. Interestingly, when Japanese first encountered it , they could understand it without any difficulty (conversely, people of the Qua-Toyne Principality could also understand Japanese easily), so it can be assumed that the grammatical and phonological structures of the two sides are the same. However, the alphabet is different, so written communication is not possible without a dictionary. Immediately after establishing diplomatic relations, Japan and Qua-Toyne mobilized linguists and translators for analysis the languages of both sides, which was completed after a year.

According to author Minorou, the origin of this language comes from the Holy Milishial Empire , which built based on the Ravernal Empire 's original language due to their reliance on the Ravernal Empire artifacts for the development of the country.

Philades Continent's Language[]

It was revealed that the Philades Continent possessed a language of its own, however it did not seem to be significantly different from the New World's Common Language (if applicable, the discrepancy is probably limited to some local terms).

Annonrial Empire's Language[]

The language of the Annonrial Empire originated directly from the Ravernal Empire, so its similarity with Ravernal's language is greater than other languages in the world. However, it is not difficult to understand them because they still possess many things in common with the New World's Common Language.

Mu's Language[]

Originating as a country from Earth, the language that Mu uses is obviously also from here, and it is more common in Mu than other indigenous languages.

As a multi-ethnic nation, it can use many different official languages in parallel, but the details are unknown.

Japanese bookstores sell all kinds of Japanese books that have been translated into the Mu language, which shows a difference between two's. It is unclear if the difference only includes the alphabet, or includes grammar, pronunciation, etc.

The names of Mu's weapons and vehicles often come with the "La" prefix (for example, La Kasami), but it is unclear what it means.

Gra Valkas's Language[]

The language that the Gra Valkas Empire uses. Vocabulary, pronunciation, grammar, and alphabet are still unknown.

The Empire is considered to be a civilization at the level of a modern nation with a high level of national integration through the establishment of standard language and the spread of school education throughout the country.

Like Japanese, the Empire's language can be easily heard and understood by the inhabitants of the New World, however the alphabets are different, requires careful translation in written communication.

Although the names of Gra Valkas's weapons and characters are named after the stars and celestial bodies in the universe, they may have different meanings in their language.
