Liberation of Leifor is a campaign conducted by the JSDF and World Union Forces to liberate Leifor and open the way to directly attack the Gra Valkas mainland.

World Union Army's Counterattack[]
Main Article: Liberation of Hinomawari Kingdom, Capture of Valkyries Base, and Assault on Irnetia Kingdom
The World Union Army, led by Japan decided to launch a counterattack as the iron was still hot. Months after the invasion ends, the JASDF that were once recalled to mainland Japan return to Mu to conduct a counterattack led by Lieutenant General Ouchida Kazuki. With the Gra Valkas Empire's capability for war weakened considerably, Japan initiates a counterattack and makes a joint operation with several countries to expel the Gra Valkas Empire from the Second Civilization.
Gra Valkas Desperate Defenses on Leifor[]
News of the defeat of the Great Fleet and death of Caesar, including presumably deceased Mirkenses during the Invasion of Japan, causes Emperor Gralux to order the imperial forces to turn defensive due to Japanese capabilities that were far beyond his expectation. To this end, the Gra Valkas military deployed a large number of sea mines around the 2nd Civilization Area and drastically increased the Imperial Army garrison in Leifor.
Assault on Lars Filmyna[]
Air-to-Ground Assault[]
The combined base Lars Filmyna is an integrated Army and Navy base of the Gra Valkas Empire built for the purpose of continental invasions and integration of Mu continent. The base has a large force of troops and massive air defense, causing the base to be seen as symbol of power of the Gra Valkas Empire. The number of troops at this base, along with many other strongholds and barracks scattered throughout Leifor, amounted to 320,000 troops, supported by the Army Air Corps and a large number of camouflage anti-aircraft guns and radars, along with a fleet of 70 warships stationed at the port of Leiforia.
During this time, even after the catastrophic loss of the Great Fleet, Gesta still deluded himself that the JSDF didn't win against the Great Fleet fair and square and the failure invasion of Japan was assumed by him to be caused by ambushes, faulty ammunitions and the most ridiculous of all, mutiny. He looked at Lars Filmyna base and lectured Cielia to burn the image of invincibility of the Empire on her mind while encouraging her to work hard for him so he could be promoted in the future and at the same time he could elevate her too.
After losing contact in Hinomawari, commander of the Lars Filmyna, General Fantare ordered the base to be on high alert and improved the defense. To counter JSDF's jamming, he decided to operate 5 radar stations with 5 different frequencies with 3 others as backup, and also installed underground cables as a means of communication instead of radio prone to jamming. Despite being warned by his Army Officer Ramball, he still confident that the base could deter JSDF airstrike and naval attacks due to the extremely long cruising distance.
The JASDF decimated 4 garrisons not far from Lars Filmyna causing Fantare to frantically ordered Antares fighters to intercept JSDF jet fighters only for all of them to be take down and to make things worse, his tactics to counter JSDF's jamming also failed to as all the radar stations including the backup ones also being jammed. Fantare and Ramball then helplessly watched as the JASDF bombed the the radar stations, anti-air gun positions, the hangars and other important facilities of Lars Filmyna base into oblivion. The Gra Valkas Empire factories near the base also shared the fate as they were also being bombed into smithereens.
Seeing the symbol of power of Gra Valkas Empire being crumbled into dust so easily as the Lars Filmyna was destroyed causing Gesta to be petrified with terror to the point of having runny nose like a man being lobotomized as he was forced to face a harsh reality that Japan is far above the Gra Valkas Empire. While Gesta mumbling himself in fear, Cielia shed her tears as she witnessed the destruction as she knew that it was time for her to face Japan's judgement for her role in the execution of the Patrol Guards with high possibility that she would be hanged.
After wrecking Lars Filmyna, the JSDF then targeted all Gra Valkas airbases, garrison, and army bases across Leifor. They also destroyed the vital bridge used by GVE forces for logistics, completely cutting off supplies from Leiforia.

The eighteen P-1 modified Patrol aircraft with the support of the Boeing E-767 AWACS launched a massive airstrike at Gra Valkas Empire's Leifor Defense Fleet. The Type 91 anti-ship missiles were discovered by a group of eight Antares Fighters and they desperately tried to intercept the missiles but failed miserably. They later also spotted the squadron of P-1s and attempted to intercept them, only to end up in failure, same as previous attempt.
Before the missile strike, Leifor Defense Fleet Commander Andall and Chief of Staff Civiet, aboard the Hercules-class battleship Marzelan, shared their moment of delusion like Gesta. They were confident that they could take down the JASDF if they attacked while discussing that aircraft carriers are the future of naval warfare. Unfortunately, their delusion and confidence were grinded into dust as two Type 91 anti-ship missiles obliterated the Pegasus-class aircraft carrier Ryusei. Andall frantically ordered the entire fleet to fire blindly in the sky to intercept the missiles only for him to watch one more aircraft carrier along with two battleships and four destroyers met their watery grave, resulting in the death of at least 10,000 imperial sailors. The carnage caused Andall to scream in rage and disbelief that he just witnessed a massacre, not a battle. He eventually met his end when a Type-91 struck a side of his battleship Marzelan and effectively sunk it as Andall drown.
In the end, the entire Gra Valkas Empire's Leifor Defense Fleet was only left with three destroyers and all its submarines.

After being briefed by the situation, Emperor Mirishial ordered the deployment a total of 23 ships, including 3 Orichalcum-class magic battleships, 4 heavy cruiser, 6 magic artillery ships, 5 small ships, 2 aircraft carriers, and 3 supply ships that formed into a powerful magic fleet called Death Bar Fleet to conduct naval blockage against GVE in Leifor. The HME Navy blindly confident that the Orichalcum-class magic battleship is much better than JMSDF's ship out of pride.
It is revealed that the Holy Mirishial Empire has managed to create their own magic guided missiles using the template of Ravernal magic guided missiles and the knowledge of Japan's missile tech as reference but it is far too costly for them to mass produce. The reason is that the magic guided missiles require a core to operate that has to be made from highly rare metals.
Fantare's despair[]
At the destroyed Lars Filmyna base, Fantare and Ramball ran around to ascertain their casualty situation in the wake of the Japanese airstrike. Several days had passed since the attack, they looked at the scale of the damages. Fantare listened in sorrow from Ramball that almost all their military assets and more than 1000 operational aircraft in Leifor had been destroyed. They could not get supplies from the Leifor capital Leiforia as the major bridge had been bombed. Also, Ramball reported to him that the task force off to the west was annihilated in a large-scale guided munition attack, and air supremacy over the entire continent was already lost. He learned that there were still 20 ships under an aircraft carrier task force under the 2nd Central Fleet deployed in Irnetia.
Fantare ordered the deployment of the 2nd Central Fleet in Irnetia Kingdom to sail to Leifor to reinforce the position as he knew if Leifor falls, the mainland will be vulnerable to attack.
Withdraw of Gra Valkas surviving force from Lars Filmyna[]
Mu was unable to strike Lars Filmyna base due to range limitations, and could instead only participate in the attack on the base near the Mu - Leifor border. They suffered some losses in these missions as JASDF failed to destroy the entire Gra Valkas' AA network due to their high concealment.
As the Death Bar Fleet and JMSDF escort fleet reached the offshore of Lars Filmyna, Fantare fell in despair as he realized the fleet in Inertia Kingdom had been destroyed and the enemy arrived far too soon. With no choice left as the base was in completed shambles with no means of defenses as well as the means to enable the surviving Gra Valkas air force to land, he ordered a full retreat of the remaining forces out of the base toward the fortified Mt. Daigenera (429m high) in the southern part of Leiforia to hold the capital of Leifor to prevent the JSDF and World Union forces from taking full control of Leifor and stubbornly fought to the very end. Along the way, he ordered all Gra Valkas units to retreat to the west, leaving behind a few small independent detachments that used guerrilla tactics to thwart enemy pursuit, taking advantage of the forest area west of Leifor to form an absolute defense. Any surviving squadrons would be recalled to the area around Leiforia to reinforce the airspace there. As for Fantare, he decided to go down with his base to buy time for his subordinates to escape and Ramball was appointed as Fantare's successor in case he perished.
Tachion ordered the Gra Valkas to surrender and dismantle their military presence in Mu and Leifor but Fantare scoffed at them, provoking the Death Bar Fleet to open fire on the shambling Lars Filmyna as Fantare resigned himself to his fate.
GVE failed submarine attacks[]
As Lars Filmyna being bombarded, the Gra Valkas dispatched the Submarine Special Operation group consists of 12 submarines to take down the combined JMSDF and HME Death Bar Fleet. Fleet Commander Netril was confident in dealing with the HME Death Bar Fleet but cautious against the JMSDF due to the fact that it has been confirmed that Japan possesses submarines and none of the Gra Valkas submarines made it back after encountering Japan, most notably the doomed Black Moon. However, Netril confident that the latest decoy system of the Submarine Special Operation Group could have them defend against Japan's guided torpedoes by emitting sonar to deter guided torpedoes. Furthermore, he is also confident that Japan could not deal with a fleet-size submarine force.
JMSDF 5th Escort Flotilla detected the submarine fleet and and unleashed their RUM missiles to decimate the submarine fleet. Netril ordered the deployment of the the sonar decoys but horrified that it could not fool the JMSDF guided torpedoes as one of the submarines was destroyed. He was also shocked that the torpedoes was assumedly dropped from aircrafts, not from submarines, rendering the remainder of the submarine fleet completely helpless.
Realizing they had lost, the rest of the Gra Valkas submarine fleet decided to make a run but their efforts were futile as the RUM missiles decimated the entire fleet.
Preparation for land invasion[]
As the HME Death Bar Fleet finished with the shore bombardment, the JSDF ready themselves for the land invasion of Leifor.

Seeing that there was no point of holding Inertia Kingdom at this point, the Gra Valkas command ordered the last remaining 21 warships in Inertia to depart towards Leifor to engage JMSDF and the Death Bar Fleet. Due to the limited numbers of guided magic missiles, Fleet Commander Tachion was unable to engage them. To counter this advance, Japan launched 5 P-1s carrying 40 Type 93 ASM-2 Anti-ship Missiles.
Watching on the Cosmos' magic radar, Fleet Commander Tachion is amazed by the speed of Japan's patrol aircraft. They are already somewhat aware of Japan's power due to the reports from the Pal Chimera. Initially, Tachion was skeptical that 5 P-1 aircrafts could decimate the entire carrier task force and felt that it was more believable if 5 planes could only target the most important targets such as aircraft carriers. To all the HME officer's shock, the Japanese planes launched their missiles from over 180 km away from the enemy at a elevation of 10 km before turning back. Tachion remembered from the report that while Japan Anti-ship missiles are weaker than their Heaven Fire magic guided missiles, their power is still formidable as they can sink a cruiser in one single hit. As the enemy dot in the radar started disappearing, Tachion and all the officials were shocked with the possibility that Japan managed to destroy the whole carrier task force with just 5 planes. An Alpha-1 Reconnaisance Aircraft is launched, and the entire GVE fleet is discovered and confirmed to be sunk. Tachion was deeply thankful of Japan for this feat and he also further added that Japan had taken care of GVE Special Operation Group Submarines as he admitted that the Death Bar Fleet has zero defense against submarines. As the result, if Japan did not take the GVE submarine group out, the Death Bar Fleet would have been decimated. Finally, Tachion glad that HME was not the enemy of Japan as he and the rest of the Death Bar Fleet now acknowledged that Japan was a formidable country that HME should not mess with.
With the reinforcement from Inertia Kingdom neutralized, the naval blockage of the World Union force was successful.
Assault on Fort Ratte Almay[]
While GVE force was scattered throughout Leifor as the vast majority of the defenses and supply chains were decimated by JSDF air strikes, the underground fortress Fort Ratte Almay still stood strong as a buffer between the capital of Leiforia and Lars Filmyna. It was revealed that the fortress was constructed in case the GVE was overwhelmed by enemy force and it served as GVE absolute defense in Leifor.
Due to the fortress was designed to be hidden from enemy aircraft, thick forests that can deter enemy ground force, powerful armors to withstand tank attacks, artillery and air strikes and had long-range guns with turrets to deal with overwhelming enemy force while under constant aerial bombing, Colch Mir, commander of the Fort Ratte Almay, rallied the morale of the Gra Valkan soldiers inside that the fortress was impregnable as it had been able to hide and withstand the air raids of JSDF and World Union Forces so far and they would crush any enemy that came at them.
After many days of waiting with no sight of enemy advance, Colch Mir is confident that the enemy would not attack the fortress and he assumed that the enemy knew that attacking the fortress was a bad idea. However, much to his shock, his subordinates yelled out that the JSDF and Mu mechanized forces were plowing through the thick forest to bypass the place. Colch Mir was disbelief as the thick forest should have deter the advancement of any mechanized force.
Assault on Mt. Daigenera[]
The combined JSDF and Mu air force bombarded Mt. Daigenera constantly during day and night caused Ramball to be at his wit end. With supply chain cut off, the scattering of his forces, his defenses repeatedly being desolated and the enemy controlled the sea and the sky, the only thing he could do is to order a guerrilla attack on the JSDF and World Union Forces. To make matter worse, Gesta gave Ramball further headache by insisting that he and other non-combatants to be evacuated back to the GVE mainland. Having had enough of Gesta's rambling, he ordered his soldiers to forcefully kick Gesta out of the command room. Cielia then apologized to Ramball for Gesta's behavior.
Realizing the situation was hopeless, Ramball ordered Cielia to evacuate the place with some of his men and made it back to the mainland while he and his men made their last stand. He instructed her to make sure the GVE government surrender to the World Union and Japan in the future before the Empire pushed themselves more towards self-destruction. He then revealed that Gesta will not come with her as he saw Gesta as a liability that needed to be disposed of. Unfortunately, Gesta was listening through the door and barged in, threatening Ramball with disgrace and punishment if he didn't help him escape too. Even though some threats were pointless since escape was still unlikely, Ramball relented and agreed to escort Gesta to the collaborator as well.
The next day, after Ramball, Gesta, and Cielia left the Daigenera Headquarters to a local collaborator, they witnessed a massive force of 5,000 wyverns from Central World, Second and Third Civilizations as well as Outside Civilization area coming to attack the fortress. The attack of 5,000 wyverns was largely unsuccessful as they could only scorch the surrounding of the fortress while losing 200 wyverns from AA guns. Because of this, Gesta felt relief as they were only being attacked by "barbarians", not Japan.
As dragon knight commander Dall of the wyvern force was frustrated by the fact that their attack was useless against the sturdy mountain fortress, the giant Lightning Flame Dragon commanded by Yvan, one of Emor Kingdom's top dragon knights, made their presence at the scene. Yvan arrogantly and somewhat idiotically mocked the fortress for being a product of science, which reflected his view that inferior races, especially humans used science as a coping mechanism due to their weak magic. He then commanded the Lightning Flame Dragon to unleash a powerful plasma ball at the fortress.
The Gra Valkan soldiers in the Daigenera fortress were shocked to see a kilometer-sized dragon inbound toward their position. They were unable to use anti-aircraft guns due to the forest fire. They were unaware that the decision to keep the door shut would be a turning point in history. Cielia trembled upon witnessing the dragon, and as the dragon roared, the citizens of Leiforia were also panicking upon witnessing the sight of Eimor's dragon. The plasma beam fired from the dragon forms a flame tornado around the mountain upon impact, melting rocks surrounding the three layers of fire doors in the Daigenera fortress. The air inside the fortress was instantly expelled to the outside, causing a sudden change in pressure. The people inside could not withstand this pressure fluctuation and collapsed without breathing, and some of them were lucky to be knocked out due to a lack of air. Ramball, Gesta, and Cielia watched with horror as it leveled the mountain fortress and killed everyone inside with only a single blast.
As a hysterical Gesta demanded Ramball do something to get them home, Ramball remembered that there was an Imperial Navy submarine supply base hidden on an island 300km off the coast of the Nigrat Union, the country south of Leifor. He decided they would have to reach it to have any hope of escaping.
Aftermath[]
As the fortress has fallen, Dallas suffered diarrhea during his 250 km trek due to lack of food and drink. As he finally approach the gate, which he thought to be still under Gra Valkas Influence, he tried to call for an official to open the door, aiming to conduct vengeance against Japan. As the door opens, three swords aims to his throat, only to realize that the Hinomawari Knights had occupied it. St. Kou, a Nichirin-class Swordswoman, beats Dallas up, even though Dallas try to exert his power of influence over her and those who surround him. Eventually, Dallas was arrested, with a record of making Dallas swollen as he was thrown into the prison by the courts of Hinomawari. His infraction was evade arrest, and attempt to exert influence to avoid arrest.
In the meantime in Japan, an assault to Irnetia was planned out as Prime Minister, Minister of Defense, and Minister of Foreign Affairs were discussing how to assault Irnetia due to sudden change of Holy Milishial's policy. One of the concern is the Holy Milishial's neglect of their mainland defenses, as the waters surrounding HME was remain infested by the Gra Valkas submarines that occasionally sunk commercial ships. The Holy Milishial prepares their assault force, and it is said that the preparations will take two years to launch the assault. Japan also starts to prepare.
On Ragna, Emperor Gralux, Secretary Kurtz, Foreign Affairs Vice Minister Palgell, Army HQ Xand Pastall, and the last Imperial General Siegs began their conference. Kurtz throw a tantrum when Xand Pastall reported that their every defeat was caused by Japan. No matter what they do, they can't stop Japan's guided-missiles, countermeasures were not effective, and submarines were out of question. Xand Pastall wants is to make a peace while fortifying the defense of the mainland. Kurtz yells again, but this time Xand Pastall gave an argument. He dare for Kurtz to take command, as he only reports the fact that the empire can't win no matter what they do. He even reprimanded Kurtz to negotiate with foreign affairs in terms of talking peace while bolstering the army. He also state that he was telling the truth of the situation. Emperor Gralux stopped their argument, admitting Xand Pastall's argument. He wants Parguerre to prepare the talk while he wants Xand Pastall to strengthen his men. From that discussion, the Gra Valkas seeks to make peace talks to prepare a better army.
Meanwhile, Japan's Embassy in Mu received orders to deploy Asada to the Silkark Kingdom, an island nation in the southeast of Rodenius Continent. Asada was relieved after taking a hot seat of diplomatic work ever since the war between Gra Valkas and World Union starts.
