Background[]

Qua-Toyne-Japan Coalition[]

After the Liberation of Gim, Lt. General Ouchida Kazuki proposed Prime Minister Kanata, intending to pacify the Lourian Kingdom by capturing Hark Louria XXXIV. Their plan alone will be able to bring an end to the war between the Qua-Toyne-Japan Coalition and the Lourian Kingdom.

At the Operation HQ Tent in the Qua-Toyne Relief Force Base, Lt. General Ouchida Kazuki and JGSDF officers discussed the objective of the current operation to secure King Louria himself. The Special Assault Team would act together with the 1st Airborne Brigade. The briefing continued throughout the night as the details of the diversion on Jin-Hark, the capital of Louria Kingdom, and the capture of King Louria was carefully polished into perfection. After the proposal was approved, the JGSDF 7th Armored Division prepared to march from the border city Gim with its destination to the Louria capital of Jin-Hark.

Louria Kingdom[]

News of the defeat of the Louria Kingdom's Eastern Subjugation Army at the Battle of Ejey and recaptured the border city of Gim, at Hark Castle in the royal capital Jin-Hark, the emergency council meeting was held to discuss the kingdom’s crisis and strategic defense, and determine countermeasures against the Qua-Toyne Principality and Japan. Royal Chief Mage Yamirei was examining the documents and was shocked to realize that he noticed the similarity of Japan's supposedly utilized magic with the super-weapon as a guided light magic bullet used by the Ravernal Empire mentioned in the legends. However, this conclusion was rejected by Miminel, who argued that the natural phenomena observed when the Ravernal Empire was resurrected were not confirmed. Patagene himself almost believed that it was the return of the Ravernal Empire. Then the council must consider the possibility of the Japanese forces attacking the royal capital Jin-Hark. However, no one could come up with a good strategy because of the utter lack of information on the true identity of the Japanese army’s attacks and their army composition.

Patagene, who had calmed down since he had brought up a new idea, declared that the war would continue. He recognized the annihilation of the dragon knights confirmed that the Japanese Force had strong air and naval units. However, he believed in the case that they had a weak land army, no matter how powerful their other forces were, they couldn’t conquer a city. The Royal Capital still possessed strong cavalry, heavy infantry, archers, and infantry. Then Patagene asked a black-robed man, Valhal, who was an observer and emissary from the Parpaldia Empire if the Parpaldia Empire would consider once more sending another reinforcement to them. However, Valhal cited the incompetence of the Lourian leaders, and all of the efforts Parpaldia had done for them were ought to nothing as the Lourians were defeated easily by the Japanese. He rejected it and bluntly dismissed it. Patagene angrily slammed his fist on the table.

After the strategy officer explained them with great confidence, the military arguments seemed to be correct, and every military staff was relieved to some extent. No matter how powerful the Japanese army would be, they believed that its strengthened defensive position in the capital Jin-Hark won’t fall. Louria Kingdom's military strategy with the planning, which the war council believed the Japanese force’s ground offensive had a weak.

Battle[]

Ambush on the Capital Jin-Hark's Northside Port[]

At dawn, F-2 fighters from the Qua-Toyne Relief Force Base took off into the sky and flew toward the castle and port in the capital city Jin-Hark. They bombed the unguided bombs on the Lourian warships in the ports. As they attacked the armed insurgents' port, the Aegis system of the Kongo-class destroyer Myoukou detected approaching aerial units. Half of those blips went to the port, while the other half seemed to be guarding the capital's airspace. Since the distance from the capital to the port was only about 40 km, the JASDF must have already detected them, but just in case, they notified the F2 fighters that were currently flying in the sky and the F-15J Kai fighters which were in flight towards the capital Jin-Hark.

Air Battle Above the Capital Jin-Hark[]

About 20 JASDF F-15J fighters, which took off 30 minutes after the F-2s from the Qua-Toyne Relief Force Base, were flying towards the Lourian Capital's Port. Their objective was to eliminate the aerial units that would probably sortie due to the attack on the armed insurgents' port, secure air supremacy above the capital's airspace while at the same annihilating any enemy air units.

At the Lourian Kingdom Wyvern Corp headquarters, the base’s emergency alarm began to ring the bell and howl the horn, stirring the dragon knights that ran about frantically. The 1st, 2nd and 3rd Dragon Knights launched 100 wyverns into the sky. The 2nd and 3rd Dragon Knights flew in a circle to guard over the royal capital. The 1st Dragon Knights flew towards the northside port.

The squadrons of F-15J fighters had already detected a large number of air units deployed above the Lourian capital and the port slightly away from the city. The pilots followed the standard operating procedure in a swift and precise manner and prepared to engage the targets. Their distance to the targets was already less than 100 km and inside the missiles' effective range. They launched the medium-range AAM-4 missiles, flying at the Mach 4 speed. They zoomed over the sky to destroy the wyverns flying above the Jin-Hark.

Dragon knight Thanakane seemed to take a glimpse of something moving fast. Immediately after he moved his line of sight, Captain Aldebaran, who was flying in front of him, exploded into pieces. The scattered remnants of him and wyvern fell, pulled down by gravity. Suddenly, the wyvern Thanakane rode with started to dive down and swooped through the air. When it almost reached the ground, it immediately changed its orientation and killed its speed just before it would crash, but ended up awkwardly landing while tumbling hiddenly under the Third Wall surrounding the capital Jin-Hark. Thanakane looked at the sky where the wyverns exploded one after another by some sort of attack. The wyverns, previously numbered 100, had been rapidly reduced, with only 10 remaining.

In the meantime, some F-15J Kai fighters flew at an ultrafast speed while shooting light bullets, which reaped the lives of the remaining 2nd and 3rd Dragon Knights. Ten wyverns shot down one after another. In just under a few minutes, all wyverns of the 2nd and 3rd Dragon Knights had disappeared from the sky of the capital Jin-Hark.

Magic Anti-Air Counterattack[]

The Hark Castle was in great tumult like a disturbed beehive. Royal Chief Mage Yamirei ran with 100 royal mages following him. The first line of defense beyond the bows and arrows range was the duty of the magicians. They couldn't see any signs of the enemy on the plains. Since the elevation and fire rate of the attack were the maximum priority, they climbed the stairway leading to the top of the inner walls.

When they reached the top, they looked up at the sky and couldn't see all wyverns didn't exist, but only the F-15J fighters flying around at great speed. They lined up side-by-side and raised their staffs in unison. They began reciting their spells, and fireballs formed at the tip of their staffs. It aimed at the F-15J fighters in the sky. On Yamirei's signal, fireballs, comparable to a wyvern's boosted flame shot, launched towards the sky one after one with a speed similar to a baseball thrown by a professional pitcher (150 km/h).

One hundred mages threw one shot every 30 seconds. The 200 fireballs per minute that continuously fired looked like the tracers of an anti-aircraft gun, but their magic, which was far slower than a fighter's speed, never managed to land a single hit. They missed them. It was impossible to stop them.

Second Wave Attack on the Northside Port[]

Vice Admiral Hoyle had rendered speechless to witness causing huge damage to the northside port after F-2 fighters quickly flew away. By the time the 1st Dragon Knights arrived at the port, there were no enemies that remained. When the 1st Dragon Knights flying above the port tried to return to their Wyvern Corp headquarters, several wyverns were engulfed suddenly by an explosion. Several more wyverns disintegrated. At this time, the 1st Dragon Knights realized that they were being attacked by F-15J fighters. Even Hoyle had never seen something that could fly at such speed. With an unbelievable climbing power, it disappeared into the sky. In just several minutes, the 1st Dragon Knights that came rushing to support the Navy had annihilated.

Vice Admiral Hoyle watched the warships and the port facilities burning as a scene of hell. As someone shouted that the Japanese ships were spotted, Hoyle turned to look at the JMSDF destroyers appearing in the sea and could recognize that ship anywhere. He had seen the figure of the dreaded ship in his nightmares many times over that had sunk nearly 1,400 ships of his comrades in the Rodenius Sea with just several ships. Hoyle knew from the last battle that even from this distance, his opponent’s attack could still reach his position in 8 kilometers. He resolved his mind and gave out his order that use the rowboats to attack the enemy ship.

The soldiers prepared for a sortie while fighting against their fear. They took out the rowboats and boarded them with a minimal crew. They wouldn’t be slowed down and started rowing the oars at full power. When about 100 rowboats had departed from the port, the JMSDF destroyers unleashed their destruction with 127mm compact guns, and the next moment an explosion struck the port, killing Vice Admiral Hoyle, who was determined to fight back against Japan. They were surrounded by countless pillars of water that swept across the sea.

With the shore bombardment from the 127mm compact guns of the JMSDF destroyers, the Louria Kingdom’s port facilities had turned into embers. After they had confirmed that all assets on the port and seas had been destroyed, the JMSDF destroyers moved beyond the coast visual range.

In the current engagement, the JMSDF and JASDF sunk the remaining 3,000 enemy warships and destroyed the port facilities and logistics, including the naval repair docks and the naval headquarters building. Thus, the Louria Kingdom's Navy had completely eradicated.

Assult on the Watchtower[]

The Lourian war council concluded to meet the Japanese army in a battle at Beales, the industrial city on the east side of the capital Jin-Hark. Although the Japanese Force’s ground offensive capabilities were still unclear, it was conjectured that the cause of the catastrophic damage was due to a surprise attack on the port. Then after they measured the Japanese strength, they prepared to defend the capital Jin-Hark before the Japanese army reached the capital passing the industrial city Beales.

At the 17th Observation Tower, Malpaneus saw something strange moving about four kilometers north by a telescope. He sensed something strange and focused his attention in that direction. JGSDF Type 90 battle tanks and Type 99 Howitzers lined up in an orderly fashion, facing the direction of the capital. He reported to the Royal Capital Defense Headquarters thru the magic transmitter that they identified several unidentified objects in a field about four points from the first wall on the north side.

The JGSDF 7th Division, consisting of the 7th Artillery Regiment was spread out about four kilometers from the northern walls of the Royal Capital. The regimental commander told the regimental officer that they needed to be discovered by the enemy through being too close was making him build up stress. The regimental commander pointed to a tower floating on the outer wall of the capital. The regimental officer spoke him that the mortars could reach them easily. The strength of the stone wall was unknown, and from the firing axis, if they shot it with tank cannons at this position, there was the risk of damaging the town and the vicinity. If it used a high-angle howitzer shot or another projectile weapon, it might be possible to smash the tower and not damage the city. The regimental commander felt worried that they didn’t want civilian casualties. He moved one of the Type 90 main battle tanks closer the distance to the wall.

Malpaneus, continuing to watch over the enemies from his watchtower, noticed one Type 90 tank approaching the walls. Looking closely, it had a rod jutting out of its body which looked like a battering ram used on siege engines to destroy castle gates and walls. The rod looked extremely thin for a battering ram, and it felt out of place. He reported to the on-duty commander that only a single engine approached the wall. The on-duty commander was perplexed by the enemy’s manner of operating siege engines. As ordered by the on-duty commander, troops have already gathered at the ramparts. The ballistae readied as mounds of ballistae bolts were transported to the ramparts. Since the enemy was also anticipated to scale the walls, massive stones for dropping on ladders and engines were also ready.

However, nervousness ran through the Lourian soldiers watching from the walls as the Type 90 tank approached them as it neared the walls. The loaded ballistae lined up on top of the walls and turned their bolts towards it close to 100m from the walls. They launched five massive bolts flying towards a Type 90 tank. The bolts fired from the walls pierced through the ground, ending their usefulness. Then the archers simultaneously pulled back their bowstrings and launched 50 arrows from the top of the walls. The multiple arrows landed on the Type 90 tank, but they were disappointingly deflected by the metal covering the Type 90 tank. Immediately afterward, the Type 90 tank swiftly reversed and accelerated outside of the range of their bows. The Lourian soldiers didn’t know whether it was a living thing or a siege engine, but the Type 90 tank returned to join the others at a speed that defied their common sense.

When the 7th Artillery Regiment took up a position about seven kilometers behind the tank unit, the regimental commander ordered to fire a shot at the tower that rose out of the city wall, which was two kilometers from their position. The barrel of the Type 99 Howitzer pointed upward at a gentle angle. The Type 99 Howitzer erupted the 155mm shell, flying high into the sky to shatter the watchtower. Malpaneus’ instincts suddenly began to sound an alarm. A 155mm shell hit a direct the 17th Observation Tower, killing Malpaneus and the watcher during a surveillance mission.

Major Cavalry Charge[]

General Patagene ran straight for the emergency operations room and heard the report of the destruction of the 17th Observation Tower by the mysterious siege engines. He ordered the 400 on-duty rapid reaction knights to move out immediately and use their mobility to distract the enemy. The 400 knights of the Capital Defense Knight’s 32nd Troop led under Commander Hiz were preparing to sally out. The cavalries, consisting only of mounted knights, excelled in utilizing their horses’ mobility to harass and wreak havoc among their enemies’ ranks. When the horses neighed as the northeastern gate opened, letting the 400 cavalrymen out of the walls. The horses’ hooves kicked up a cloud of dust as the cavalries began to march at full speed.

At a distance of 4km, they would be upon the enemy entrenchments in 5 to 6 minutes. Hiz, who was followed by his comrades, advanced while performing a zigzag to try not to get caught in the long-range attack, which destroyed the walls. As they crossed the 2km mark, they picked up the pace. The Type 90 tanks of the JGSDF’s 7th Division entrenched 2km away from them and simultaneously fired multiple light bullets from their 7.62mm machine guns and 12.7mm heavy machine guns, visibly flying towards them. The light bullets hit the knights and their horses, tearing both to shreds. Hiz immediately hid to escape the danger, but the knights behind him had all torn apart to shreds. The knights, who advanced with iron shields at the ready, were easily peppered by the bullets and kicked off from their horses. The steady march of the light bullets seemingly drew red lines through the air as they easily pierced through the armor of the cavalrymen, raising clouds of pulverized rock as they hit the ground. They lost more than 100 knights, including commander Hiz to the unending hail of light in a short amount of time.

In just two charges, the 32nd Troop of the Louria Kingdom’s Capital Defense Knights was virtually annihilated, having lost more than 300 cavalrymen. Losing their commander, the surviving cavalrymen, too afraid of the overwhelmingly powerful attack, were routed completely as each man ran back towards the walls.

Heavy Infantry Combat[]

Starting with General Patagene, the military strategists were in a state of shock. As the fortunate survivors of the 1st Cavalry fled into the capital, the cavalry knight, who got injured with his head bleeding, finally began to speak to General Patagene that the enemy might be few, but they threw the light bullets as their weapon.

After that, the military strategists discussed considering the amount of magic it could cast. The enemy might deplete them of magic power if they use human wave tactics with a large number of people. Lourian army would get killed one after another that way. The heavy infantry's shields might be able to hold on somehow, but they can pierce through the metal armor. While the military strategists still made discussion, General Patagene decided that they would have the entire heavy infantry deployed from the front gate and lure away the light bullets. The rest of the soldiers and cavalries would deploy from the other gates, which would be in their blind spot, spread out, and charge all at once.

At the midday, the battalion of heavy infantrymen took to the vanguard, emerging out of the gate in close formation. Clad in heavy armor and wielding a heavy shield and long spears, the soldiers pushed forward using the muscles they had built from years of training as they sweated buckets inside their armor. By the time they marched past the 2km mark, the JGSDF 7th Division began firing with 7.62 machine guns mounted on the Type 90 tanks. Putting their faith in the strength of their shields, they put all of their strength into the arm which held it, and the entire battalion got even tighter as they braced for impact. The 7.62 machine guns fired the light bullets and crashed into the heavy infantry battalion with intense force. The bullets landed one by one on the shields propped up by the Lourian heavy infantry battalion. The heavy infantrymen in front fell, opening up holes within their ranks.

General Patagene, watching the heavy infantry fall one after the other from afar, fell into despondency. Almost every heavy infantryman had been felled by the light bullets except for one. However, Swallow held his ground as the light bullets deflected from his magic shield, which he propped up diagonally. Their heavy infantry already had been annihilated. The sole surviving soldier advanced alone when the storm of light stopped and propped up his magic shield when it resumed, holding his ground as the light bullets bounced off.

The regimental commander marveled at the sight of the Swallow, who was the only man able to block the light bullets, and took a step forward. The regimental officer spoke to the regimental commander that it was a joke. He had never heard of a man's shield being able to block a bullet from a machine gun, even though it had an evasive maneuver. The regimental commander believed that it might be a threat to their operation. He wanted to take that shield and study it. The bulletproofing process provided a great deal of protection. However, he had never heard of a man-portable shield being able to block a machine gun.

Capital Defense Force Raid[]

Suddenly, the Capital Defense Force poured out from eight gates to defend the capital. Mounted more than ten thousand knights, infantrymen, archers, and mages poured out of the gates and dispersed to meet their foes. When the regimental commander saw them coming to attack the JGSDF 7th Division, he thought they were switching to a strategy of attaching to tanks and shooting them down individually. He contacted a radio to the JMSDF destroyer Izumo for air support.

At the orders of the regimental commander, the three AH-64D Apache attack helicopters and seven AH-1S Cobra attack helicopters on standby on the JMSDF destroyer Izumo began to take off to provide additional fire support. In addition, the 7th Artillery Regiment on standby behind them were also ordered to provide fire support and are readying their howitzers.

Meanwhile, dragon knight Thanakane responded to the comms officer and on-duty commander thru the magical communication device after he heard the transmission by the observer's report where the flying objects, which belonged to Japan, were passing through the sky above the Jin-Hark's northern port. He decided to fly with a wyvern and fight the JGSDF AH-1S Cobras attack helicopters. When Thanakane saw them in the sky, his partner wyvern began to form a fireball in the air. The AH-1S attack helicopter focused on strafing their enemies below them when a fireball flew into their sight. The back muscles of the pilot sitting in the rear froze as Yamane yanked his control stick to the left. The AH-1S attack helicopter banked left and slid sideways. A moment later, a fireball missed as it passed to the right side of the AH-1S attack helicopter. Looking at the direction from where a fireball came, they saw a single wyvern readying itself for a second shot. The gunner sitting in the front looked at the enemy that had fired a fireball on them. The eye link system matched the movement of his eyes, pointing the barrel of the 20mm autocannon mounted in front towards the enemy. Using his index finger, he pulled the trigger. The autocannon, boasting a rate of fire of over 650 rounds per minute, began to spit lead and flames. Within moments, the wyvern slid to the left, evading the burst of fire from the autocannon as tracers passed next to their right. Thanakane and his wyvern, believing that they would score a hit with their surprise attack, were surprised that their enemy managed to avoid it.

At the same time, Thanakane ordered his wyvern to fire a fireball, and the AH-1S attack helicopter unleashed the light bullets. The light bullets went right through the magic flame bullet unscathed and landed hits on his wyvern, opening up big holes in its hide and splattering blood all over. His wyvern’s speed dropped. As they fell, Thanakane turned his head upwards to see the fireball land a direct hit on the enemy’s nose. As they fell rapidly, the surface of the ground got closer. However, his wyvern exhausted a bit more strength one last time, extending its wings and flapping them to at least not let Thanakane die. However, it didn’t have much strength left, and it crashed bluntly and dramatically onto the ground, throwing up a cloud of dust and Thanakane off the saddle. He looked up at the sky, only to see something that made him doubt his own eyes.

Back to the battlefield, the wave of more than ten thousand people swallowed the grassy plains in a tremendous avalanche. As someone shouted, Sawken looked for something strange ahead of him. Multiple attack helicopters flew up in the sky and released multiple light arrows. When the light arrows hit the ground, a huge chunk of his comrades was swallowed by the earth thrown up, dispersing fragments of flesh and red splatter throughout the vicinity. Then there were light arrows, raining down on them one after another at a more shallow angle. They all seemed to encapsulate an intense volume of explosion magic, landing within the extensive vicinity of Sawken and blowing up, erasing his comrades from existence. Lourian capital defense knights continued to close the distance towards the enemy despite being subject to the light bullets unleashed from the front. The intense rain of light bullets pummeled them including Sawken. However, heavy infantryman Swallow was heavily injured and lost consciousness from the ground-shaking barrage by the direct shot from the missile by an attack helicopter, despite putting the shield in front of him since the explosive force passing through his magic shield.

Looking over the battlefield, General Patagene burned the sight of his men dying gallantly into the back of his head. Without any warning, the battlefield was suddenly obscured by gigantic explosions as if a volcano hidden in the plains suddenly erupted, bathing an extensive area in the raging fire. The soldiers, which were within the area, were mowed down. He shouted to the knight survivors of the Capital Defense Force to reform their formations and fall back inside the walls immediately as the JGSDF’s 7th Division’s diversionary force fired their main guns simultaneously. With ten attack helicopters and fire support from the 7th Artillery Regiment, they wiped out a massive chunk of the Louria Kingdom’s capital defense knights, pushing them to near destruction.

Night Attack[]

At night, Patagene entered the emergency operations room where tacticians and military officers were gathered for a meeting. He learned that the Japanese Army still hadn’t attacked and wondered when they would resume their assault on the capital until their main force arrived and launched more attacks. Calcio, commander of the 3rd Cavalry Battalion, had his plan to strike the Japanese army in the camping under the cover of darkness, using our mobility to land an attack on them and immediately disperse.

After 2 hours, the 3rd Cavalry Battalion of the Louria Kingdom’s Capital Defense Knights would attack the Japanese Army camping to the north. Calcio and 2,000 of his knights quietly emerged from the capital’s western gate. Slipping into the darkness, they slowly marched forward while taking care to keep their footsteps as silent as possible. They approached a point about 2km from the Japanese Army camping without incident.

The JGSDF soldiers, using a night vision scope, managed to spot them marching towards the Japanese Army camping. They launched flares up the sky from the mortar cannons. The multiple suns suddenly illuminated 2,000 knights advancing under the cover of darkness, which suddenly appeared. They were visible enough to be seen clearly from the walls of the capital. Just as Calcio was screaming orders to retreat, the JGSDF soldier fired the extraordinary light bullets from their Type-62 light machine guns, mowing down the knights. Calcio received a direct hit and died as he tried to turn back.

In a single moment, many of the disoriented knights were felled as each man ran for their own life. Patagene, looking at the scene unfolding from the command room, understood that they had lost Calcio and that all the measures they would take would end failure. Up until the time came, he decided to fight a waiting game and headed to the meeting room.

Assult on the Main Gates[]

A single Type 90 main battle tank has advanced to a point nearly 3km from the first main gate of the northern section of the outermost wall, ready to fire its main cannon. The 120 caliber HEAT Round was automatically loaded, sighted, and readied for firing. At the regimental commander’s order, the gunner pressed the firing button. The HEAT Round ejected from the turret at a speed of over 1.6km/s. The first main gate blew up. Suddenly, a violent blast rocked the gate soldiers from behind as the gate doors crumbled afterward. The Type 90 tank penetrated the first gate, allowed it to push through and penetrate the second and third gates, finally landing on the main street, which was curving up the hill, leaving a massive hole on the ground.

As Patagene was about to close his statement, the explosion sound reverberated from the north, compelling everyone to emerge onto the balcony to look down where smoke rose from the first, second, and third main gates. Patagene had ordered soldiers to gather at the north gate.

Along with the destruction of the gates, the confidence they had built on shallow foundations also crumbled, leaving the soldiers on standby near the gates, trembling in fear. General Patagene and Chief Mage Yamirei gathered the remaining army at the third gate. The soldiers on standby and the others that guarded the third gate prepared deep in their hearts that this may be their final night. They began forming lines outside the outermost gate.

Capture of King Hark Louria XXXIV[]

One hour later, three helicopters, including an AH-64D Apache attack helicopter, CH-47JA Chinook, and a UH-60JA Black Hawk helicopter from the JGSDF’s 1st Airborne Brigade, flew the skies above the Hark Castle in the capital Jin-Hark in the pitch black darkness. They carried fully equipped teams from the JGSDF’s 1st Airborne Brigade and the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department’s Special Assault Team. The 7th and 8th Royal Guards saw those things unleash their overpowering presence and gale from the downwash, shuddering in intimidation. The helicopters moved into the courtyard of the royal palace and turned on their searchlights as they hovered. As the gunners on the helicopter’s side doors began to fire their 7.62mm machine guns on the surface below, the rounds, mixed in with tracers, rained down on the 7th and 8th Royal Guards watching in confusion.

After no longer any threats, ropes dropped from the UH-60JA Chinook. As an AH-64D Apache hovered over the air to provide fire support, the well-trained paratroopers from the 1st Airborne Brigade rappelled down the ropes, landing on the ground one by one. After the paratroopers landed quickly, they created a circular defensive parameter. In under 3 minutes, the paratroopers landed on the ground and secured the zone before the Special Assault Team dropped down swiftly. The palace courtyard had readily secured. They ran following the layout of the royal palace.

Rand, commander of the royal guards, saw the enemy appear in the sky above the royal palace courtyard from the hallway next to the operations command room. Running into the operations command room, he gave orders to the 0th to 2nd Royal Guards through the comms officer to intercept their enemies. He immediately moved to contact Patagene to request extra troops from the north gate to return to the royal palace. From the emergency meeting room, Patagene also witnessed with disbelief the dropping of several enemy soldiers into the royal castle from the air. When Rand reported him to request reinforcements, Patagene realized the attack that destroyed the gates to the walls was a diversion. He ordered them to leave half of the knights at the north gate while the other half were to head back to the Hark Castle.

Rand, who was tasked with guarding the royal hall on the 4th floor, received reports from the manacomm officers that the JGSDF soldiers had taken the meeting room on the 1st floor. They were advancing to the hall on the 2nd floor and were in contact with the 3rd Royal Guards stationed in the east courtyard. They wiped the 3rd Royal Guards out by wielding Type-89 assault rifles. Then they marched to the minister’s conference hall on the 3rd floor. The 2nd Royal Guards ambushed them from the flank, using iron shields fielded by the heavy infantry. However, the 2nd Royal Guards had fallen in failure. They also reported to Rand that the heavy infantry iron shields had no effect. The magic which pierced through the iron shield also pierced their armor. The 1st Royal Guards were about to contact the JGSDF soldiers in front of the audience hall. Once the JGSDF soldiers broke through the audience hall, the next one would be the royal hall and then the emergency antechamber where the king was evacuated. Rand expected results from the 1st Royal Guards, who were as comparatively elite as the 0th Royal Guards. However, they mowed the elite 1st Royal Guards down easily. Rand felt that he and the 0th Royal Guards he commanded would be easily wiped out and ordered the 0th Royal Guards to hide behind the massive stone pillars, which could hide three knights flanking the center. He decided to talk to the JGSDF soldiers to buy time until Patagene’s reinforcements. He called out to two maids waiting in front of the king’s antechamber and ordered them to stand next to each other about 5 meters from the doors leading to the audience hall. Unable to say no and overwhelmed by fear, the two maids followed Rand’s orders.

After clearing their hindrances, Hashimoto of the 1st Airborne Brigade headed the force that would take the king and ran for the 4th floor where their target should be in the emergency antechamber in the royal hall. According to their intel, upon opening the doors at the heart of the audience hall, lying in wait was a massive hallway at the end of which was the king’s antechamber. The Lourian soldiers which had appeared up to that point didn’t pose much of a threat and they were able to readily clear them. They considered the possibility of fighting a soldier who used magic but they never saw one. Maybe they didn’t have the space needed or that magic was banned on castle grounds. Hashimoto returned his senses to the doors in front of him. With his rifle at the ready, he gave the signal to his comrades and the doors were opened. Right in front of their muzzles were two maids shaking in fear. Their faces were painted in sorrowful expression as they wet the floor in shock at their forceful opening of the doors. He saw Rand appearing front the two maids standing within the dim torch light faintly shined on the darkness of the royal hall. Showing no indication of yielding to Hashimoto’s order, Rand sheathed his sword back into his scabbard. The maids stood trembling.

Commander Nakano of the 1st Airborne Brigade stepped forward in front of Hashimoto. Rand tried to earn time for reinforcements to arrive by faking a surrender, but Nakano didn’t allow him to buy some time. Nakano put him down on the floor and yelled to twelve men of the 0th Royal Guards who hid behind the pillars to surrender. They swiftly followed Hashimoto’s orders, threw away their weapons, and lay flat on the ground. Nakano asked Rand if King Hark Louria XXXIV was behind the door. However, Rand’s hands concealed magic pellets used for smokescreen, and he deployed them. Under the cover of the smokescreen, the 0th Royal Guards rushed into the clumped formation of the 1st Airborne Brigade and the Special Assault Team. Rand quickly got on his feet, taking his hidden arm-mounted sword and lunging it straight at Nakano. Deflecting the force of the sword downwards with his combat knife, in one swift strike, Nakano struck Rand on the neck. The knife hit his armor, scraping its surface. Rand stepped back in astonishment at Nakano’s handling. However, his wound was fatal. Rand tried to swing his sword once more, but Hashimoto fired his Type-89 assault rifle at him, killing him. The 1st Airborne Brigade's jumbled formation managed to annihilate the entirety of the 0th Royal Guards throughout the royal hall.

After that, Nakano and other soldiers opened the doors and poured into the king’s antechamber. King Hark Louria XXXIV, who was stunned in fear and terrifyingly, asked whether the Japanese were the Ancient Sorcerous Empire in disguise only for the JSDF to rectify him behind as they captured him. Aoki didn’t know about the existence of this Ancient Sorcerous Empire, but he defined him under arrest for ordering the massacre of Gim in the Qua-Toyne Principality. King Hark Louria XXXIV was led away in handcuffs by them, who succeeded in the operation to capture him.

Aftermath[]

King Hark Louria XXXIV had been taken into Japan’s custody. With the loss of their king, the Louria Kingdom couldn’t quell the dissatisfied lords within their domain, and they had now devoted all their resources to pacify them. Unable to free up resources to deploy soldiers outside the Louria Kingdom, they had also pulled back their men from surrounding lands. Since then, the Louria Kingdom had become a civil war, and all of his territories had been lost. But fortunately for everyone, the civil war itself did not seem to last long.

Since the Louria Kingdom had also pulled out from border city Gim, the Qua-Toyne Principality had regained control of the town and secured the sovereignty of the Qua-Toyne Principality and the Quila Kingdom. When the lords started to oppose them, the Louria Kingdom currently had no power to deploy its army outside of its borders.

Meanwhile, heavy infantryman Swallow, bringing his magic shield peppered with dents and scratches, survived after the battlefield and walked up the hill while he pondered how heavy his life was. He exhausted his stamina, and his body stank from being covered in dirt, sweat, and blood. Upon finally arriving at his home, his wife was surprised and wept tears of joy at the realization that Swallow was alive. Together they reunited and shared an embrace.

In the meantime, Thanakane, who is a new recruit in the Wyvern Corp of the Lourian Kingdom, was the only surviving wyvern rider from Japan air attack on the royal capital Jin-Hark. He then became the youngest captain of Louria Dragon Knights.
